I can't believe how quickly the summer is going - it's already the end of week 5. Another very productive research week. I finished up two designs for halbach array's for behavioral testing in mice - the flat array and the radial array. I also presented a few slides at lab meeting yesterday, and the designs/matlab simulations seemed to be accepted well by Dr. Kaplitt and the lab members. I am printing out the enclosures at the 3D printing facility on 63rd and York, which has been an exciting process learning how to use 3D printers. After I assemble the magnetic platforms, we will carefully map out the magnetic fields they produce. Before behavioral testing, we will need to figure out a way to cover the magnets with a very thin, non-magnetic material so that mice are not walking directly on the magnet surface.
