I shadowed Dr. Eliasburg this week in the clinic assessing joint capsule degradation in cases of traumatic injury or chronic disease. It was a wonderful lesson in anatomy and provided more insight into how diverse tendinopathy progression can be.
Hamilton and I worked with an employee at HSS' Pathology Core, showing them our sections that accurately captured the region of interest. Over the weekend, we will obtain sections deeper in the joint capsule for H&E staining and image analysis.
I worked on my presentation and paper for the Immersion term, and I'm looking forward to presenting in the coming weeks. I've attached the methods figure I generated in BioRender below. The figure displays the two main aims of the collagenase model of patellar tendinopathy: 1) to optimize the timepoint and dosing of collagenase to mimic tendinopathy progression 2)Correlate ultrasound data to tendon histology to generate a clinically relevant diagnostic tool.
