On week 5 of my summer immersion, I continued to observe several surgeries. On Monday, I observed another laparoscopic hysterectomy. This one involved a patient with a large amount of fibroids, making the uterus pretty large in size compared to the other hysterectomy I had watched. Later in the week I also observed another laporoscopic hysterectomy as well as an abdominal approach myomectamy. It was interesting to see the different fibroids they were able to remove. Additionally, this week I continued on my literature search and found a few articles that could help in the device development process. It was interesting to learn read more aboyt gastric stimulation and pacing and seeing how it could be applied to the uterus as well. As always, Pei Wen and I also presented on our findings to Dr.Fenster and Dr.Wolf in our weekly meeting.
